Someone Bigger Than Our Despair

“Research suggests that religious belief can help protect against symptoms of depression, but a study at Rush University Medical Center goes one step further.

In patients diagnosed with clinical depression, belief in a concerned God can improve response to medical treatment, according to a paper in the Journal of Clinical Psychology.”

    I found that depression made it harder for me to believe that God is concerned. Depression separates me from confidence about all kinds of things, including confidence in God’s love. What made a HUGE difference for me was caring people who consistently expressed faith that God cares for me. Some days I grasped what they were saying.
